Brussels, 17 November 2020 - "One hundred days have passed since the so-called presidential election in Belarus -a fraudulent election held in flagrant violation of all international standards. Although his term of office expired on 5 November, Aliaksandr Lukashenka continues to usurp power, ignoring the calls of the international community and the people of Belarus. He shows no willingness to engage in a genuine, constructive dialogue with the country's political forces and civil society. Repression is not weakening: 25,000 peaceful protesters have been arrested so far, and brutality and torture remain widespread, as tragically illustrated by the death of 31-year-old Raman Bandarenka on 12 November and the despicable ransacking of the memorial erected in his memory.
